Ambulance Service

The main objective of the program is to have a viable efficient ambulance services round the clock for transport of patients form one health facility to another or from the residence to the hospital where the facilities exist for their immediate and specialized treatment.  As there are lots of referrals both in and out in the hospitals since there is wide disparity in the provisions of services like emergency obstetric care, Comprehensive trauma care, other emergency care etc, the non availability of transport facility at the crucial hour most often results in maternal death.

To avoid such deaths and inconveniences to the patients, particularly to the poor and disadvantaged, the government introduced the program with the partnership with Non Government organizations.
MAITRI is one among 8 NGOs working in the district to operate the Emergency Ambulance Service to the down trodden people of various blocks of Theni District. Aundipatty Block is being covered by MAITRI for this service. A well equipped Ambulance was provided by the Government Health Department under Tamilnadu Health System Project for this purpose. The Ambulance is stationed at Government Hospital, Aundipatty.  So far MAITRI was able to help 143 patients in transporting to other medical institutions.
