During this reporting period, MAITRI was able to motivate women to form another 81 groups in the target villages that take a total of 397 Self Help Groups. 5955 women are members in the groups. Members were given 26 capacity building trainings on various topics which was very much useful to them. The members of these groups have saved a total amount of Rs.6,45,300/- during this reporting period alone. The savings help them during their financial crises. |

This savings help them for their children’s Education, Marriage, Medical and to purchase assets.As they increased their capacity and courage, the members have started involving in the social issues like, Sexual exploitation, Family harassment, Dowry problem, Female infanticide, Women and Child Trafficking etc. The members of these groups formed a federation among themselves and strengthen their power of bargaining. The “Sangamam Pengal Kottamaippu” is their backbone to deal women issues what so ever. To prove their strength, they have dealt 7 family harassment issues and 2 sexual exploitation issues. They developed a systematic approach to handle the matters of SHGs, identification of social issues and mobilize resources to the groups as well as to the individuals. |

To expand their economic freedom, the women are obtaining credits from various sources. During this period, MAITRI was able to mobilize credit assistance to the tune of Rs.52, 53,000/- for 39 groups. Individual members were also encouraged to obtain loan from nationalized banks. 387 individuals benefited by this loan of Rs.11, 50,000/- The members of these groups gained self dignity among the villagers as they become economically independent. |

MAITRI takes necessary steps for marketing tie ups for the easy marketing of the beneficiary’s products. Trainings on Marketing, Accounting and entrepreneurship skills are being conducted to the members who started small business and trades. |
